Blanca Huijon is an independent woman, daughter, sister, visionary, community organizer, and experienced advocate for the Latino Community.
Blanca was born in Guanajuato, Mexico and emigrated to the United States when she was fourteen years old. Her father was a farm worker. She attended Napa Community College after graduating from Napa High School, where she obtained four A.A degrees in; Social & Behavioral Science, General Education, Fine Art, and Math. Later she obtained a B. A. in Chicano Latino Studies; and Minor in Psychology from Sonoma State University. In 2013, she obtained a grant writing certificate from Sonoma State University.
Blanca has been with Puertas Abiertas since 2010 as a Case Mentor. Her primary role is to assess clients’ needs and make guided referrals to local agencies. She also manages individual plans that allow the clients an opportunity to become self-sufficient.
Giovanni is a native of Costa Rica and studied in Puerto Rico, where he obtained a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. When he moved to Napa in 2018, he volunteered for Latino Heritage and worked as a "Crisis Counselor" in the California HOPE Program. Throughout his career, he served as Executive Director of a nonprofit organization in Puerto Rico, "Casa de Niños M.F.J. Inc., and was a professor of Psychology at the University of Puerto Rico and Central University of Bayamón, where he was also Dean of Students.

Alejandra was born and raised in Napa Valley, where she attended Napa Valley College and received her AA in Social Behavioral Science. She graduated from Sacramento State University with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. Being a daughter of Mexican immigrants sparked her passion for helping others. Her experience working with elderly with Alzheimer's/dementia, at-risk children/youth programs, and now Puertas Abiertas, constantly reminds her of her passion for advocacy and service for the diverse and undeserved populations.

A graduate of the University of the East in the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Statistics, Melinda moved to San Diego, California in 1986. She then moved to the Bay Area, where she spent over 25 years specializing in non-profit accounting, operations, and human resources management. With Puertas Abiertas, Melinda brings dedication, confidence, expertise in accomplishing the most efficient management and financial direction.
